After the storm
15 February, 2006 [%%time%]
So how was everyone’s Valentine's Day? Mine was wonderful! I got presents, flowers and even more flowers from my wonderful fiancé... he also took me out for lunch.
Boy, how did I ever get so lucky?
Anyway, it's been such a long time since my last update and I have tons to write about.
Gian and I spent last weekend with some friends by the country side, it was wonderful to be able to get away with him. These past month has been filled with ups and downs and we've been through so much... see, I've been sick.
I've been sick but no one knows, no one but Adrienne and Gian that is. It all started when I went for my yearly visit to the gynecologist and she found some abnormal cells on my Pap smear results.
It seems like it all was ages ago when in fact it has only been about three weeks since it all started. I’ve gone through several procedures to determine what it was since then, including a biopsy.
They've ruled out cancer and other illnesses that had me so upset, what I have is a small injury on my uterine neck that needs to be cauterized, I’m going to have that done on the 27th that I get off school, I'll be off until the 16th so that gives me time to recover.
The reason why I haven't shared this with anyone is because my grandma has cancer and I didn't want to worry anyone at home... so I decided to go through with everything by myself. Even when Gian and Adrienne have been by my side all the time, I've never felt so alone in my life.
It’s been lonely. Even when Gian was right there, holding my hand through everything. Sometimes I felt like he didn’t quite understand what I was going through, but he’s been so supportive.
Adrienne as well, she’s so much more than a friend, she’s like a sister to me.
I'm doing better now, at least I know what I have and what needs to be done.
Anyway, before all that happened Gian and I were talking wedding dates. We wanted to set a month for next year and we finally did! It's going to be December and we’ve also chosen a church, we’re going to get married at his High School Church, it’s called Virgen de la Inmaculada (Immaculate Virgin).
The church is so beautiful. Not as beautiful as the one I wanted but I can see getting married there means so much to him, so I’m giving in this time.
As far as school goes, I’m doing great. I can’t believe how much I like the courses I’m taking. I never though I’d see the day.
Love always,
Gaby
